Burt’s Bees Natural Toothpaste For Kids

by Dale Y the Green Guy

One of the things all of us parents want our kids to do is brush their teeth. Most of the toothpastes out there are targeted at adults and flavored with mint. But they may not be very appealing to children.

Enter Burt’s Bees Natural Toothpaste. It comes in two flavors: Berry Bee without fluoride, and Orange Wow with fluoride. As a parent, you can decide if you want the fluoride version, which has been proven to prevent cavities, or the non-flouride version, which doesn’t have fluoride but it will still get them to brush.

I tried both of them for one week, and here’s what I think.

Regardless of anything else, they both taste great, and that is the point of these flavored kids toothpastes. If they taste this good, fluoride or not, your kids are going to want to use them and brush. And brushing is the name of the game.

Both of these types have natural cranberry extract, which has been proven to act like Teflon in your mouth and not allow bacteria to stick to your teeth. So even the toothpaste that is fluoride-free is still effective.

There is nothing bad in Burt’s Bees toothpaste. It has glycerin, which keeps it all together, silica, which gives it a little cleansing power, sodium cocoyl glutamate, which is a synthetic type of coconut oil. Probably the worst thing in this toothpaste, and among other things, is maltodextrin, a gluten-free sugar substitute.

All in all, the toothpaste is claimed to be 99.2 percent natural, and I can find no reason why it isn’t.

I can’t compare this toothpaste to any other brand that I regularly use, but I can say this: my teeth were as clean as they have ever been, and being able to brush with a flavor different than mint was actually quite interesting, and dare I say, fun!

As far as brushing my teeth goes, I did brush mornings and evenings, and even as the big kid that I am, I actually wanted to brush! These toothpastes literally taste good, and like I mentioned earlier, having these flavors may actually get your kids to brush more. And that may be the best part about Burt’s Bees Beery Bee, and Orange Wow, regardless of how clean they get your kids teeth.
