Windows and Saving Power and Money ( Despite the Burglar )

Here is a heads up for you folks that are getting ready to replace those old windows with new ones. Do you have a burglar alarm system in your house that has sensors in the windows? Be sure the contractor knows about the sensors and make sure the intruder company is contacted prior to ripping the windows out. A window contractor can be caught ill prepared to handle the sensors and the wiring involved with burglar system installed in your old windows.

To remove the old window, the sensor wires will need to be cut. The wires will need to be re-connected in an approved method. Your, low voltage ( burglar alarm company), contractor is best equip and trained to join the wires back together so the connection will not fail in the years to come. Also, the sensor unit itself needs to be positioned in the new window so it will work properly. a hole will need to be drilled in the frame of the new window to accommodate the sensor.

All considered, you will be happier at the conclusion of the new window install if the window contractor and the burglar alarm contractor work together. I will warn you however, to check the cost per hour, of the burglar contractor. The few I have worked with bring a new meaning to the term burglar - $140 dollars an hour seems a little steep.
