Replacement Windows
Recognizing the best replacement windows for your home?
What’s the best replacement window for your home? Three different types are highlighted in this video. Replacing in-efficient windows with new, double pane vinyl windows will save energy, money, and reduce cold drafts.
The question concerning replacement windows has to do with recognizing which replacement windows are best for you and your home. We already know that new vinyl framed, double pane windows are much more energy efficient than single pane windows.
We already know that new windows will increase energy savings and comfort and they will reduce drafts and resist mold and condensation. But, as the window installation contractor visits your home and begins to make suggestions, wouldn’t it be nice if you had a little “window speak” in your background to help you decipher what was really being said.
Some window manufactures really pride themselves in the complexity of the vinyl frame. They will talk about lasting for the life of the universe and resisting the passage of convection heat.
Other manufactures will concentrate more on their super insulating spacer. The spacer is the material around the edge of the glass that keeps the two panes of glass apart. This manufacturer may conclude that their window is the best because their spacer offers the most insulation value and therefore increases the windows performance.
Speak to a third window manufacturer and you may learn all about low-e glass coatings and their professional opinion that their window is best because of the unique performance of the glass coating. Seems that with just the right coating, the window can stand up against the rays of the sun better and even reduce the possibility that the carpet color will fade.
As I think about the different vinyl windows, the thing that I am most interest in is the way they operate. If you need a basement window that will allow a person to crawl through if needed, you can get a sliding window where both sides of the window slide and both sliders are removable. Need to get out the window, just remove all the window glass, set it aside, and skinny through.
I recommend the following video, it is one of the better video’s that talk about replacement windows.
