How Much Does it Cost to Use Engine Heater, Battery Charger

How much does it cost to use a car engine heater or a battery charger?

Your standard car engine heater comes in at 600 watts. Use the engine heater 40 hours a week and it uses 24 kWh of juice. If you pay 11 cents per kWh, then the engine heater costs you $2.64 per week. $10.56 per month

Plug the car engine heater in when you get home from work at 6 PM and leave it on until your ready to head for work at 7 AM, that’s 13 hours a day or 91 hours a week. ( you work 7 days a week, good job ) at 11 cents a kWh and you spend $6 per week. $24 per month

The battery is dead, so you hook up the battery charger. The battery charger charges the battery for 15 hours.  Typical wattage of a battery charger is 150 Watts. Estimated kWh for one charge is 2.3 kWh. At 11 cents per kWh, one charged up battery costs 25 cents.

Studies indicate that people who know how much power is being used save 5% to 15% on their power usage and power bills.
