Solar Power
Looks like we are going to have some really nice weather for a few days, the solar panels should kick into high gear once again. I have an ongoing article about one of my solar projects titled ‘The CT solar project, just getting started’ that is posted on Detect Energy. Looking forward to reporting on this project as it moves from initial bidding to completion. Besides the solar installation, there is a couple of work items we will be doing to the home to conserve power. An additional heat duct and register will be added to better distribute the air flow from the furnace and a heat pump will be added to the oil furnace to provide far more efficient heat and also to provide air conditioning.
Had a big problem with part of the companies business grant accounts, seems my records do not match the accountants, as usual, I think the accountant is correct and all I have to do is find my mistake. Thankfully, this does not happen very often, I do not like eating accountant crow.
Air Seal with Spray Foam
Purchased a can of foam sealant last night. There are several gaps in the exterior siding of my heated green house that dare wasting energy. Foam sealant is cheap at $3.57 a can and it is effective, quick and easy. I have to remember to be very careful to not get it on my hands or clothes because it is really hard to get off. Also, remember to not spray too much in a gap because it expands so much there will be a large glob forming on the outside of the hole. Wait till it dries to trim the excess off.
Daughter had a 4-H meeting last night, she is in a club that is all horses. It’s always been interesting to me to notice that, at this age ( and most ages ), horse riders are mostly girls. Her club has 17 girls and one boy. I have to give the boy credit, he knows how to increase his odds. My daughter has a great time with her horse and the 4-H club, there is always good, healthy activities and good friends.
No Impact Camping and No Impact Living
Are you a camper? You know, hike in with your tent on your back. Are you a no impact camper? Do you follow the rule that if you pack it in you pack it out? When your camping, to leave mother earth just like you found her is a great responsibility and something most every camper takes pride in. So, let’s take this out of the forest and off the sand dunes, how about no impact living at your home every day? If it’s good for the one week camping trip, it would be even better for the 51 week, at home camping trip. Why be painted green for just one week?
Whoop’s, the morning is flying by, got to go. Thanks for stopping by detect energy, come back soon… Don Ames
