About Your Energy Spy Host
Starting in the home building industry as a framer was a good way to get the background needed for a foundation on residential energy. During most of the early 1990′s, I was a builder that went to work each day with a nail apron around my waist. In the late 1990′s, I shed the nail apron and spent most of the time with a pencil in my hand instead of a hammer. For a number of years, I was part architect, part builder, part accountant, and part real estate agent. With the economy slipping a little bit in the housing market, I backed away from the new home industry and found myself taking the position as a Housing Improvement Specialist for a Housing Authority. With the need to make a wide variety of improvements to existing homes, I found myself in one class, seminar or conference after another having to do with safe, comfortable and efficient homes. Now, I am an official Residential Energy Auditor. These days, when I go to work, instead of strapping on a nail belt with a big hammer, I’m more likely to be found with a moisture meter, blower door, and infrared camera.
